Currently, 100 per cent Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is allowed only in Business to Business (B2B) e-commerce and not in retail trading.
The issue was raised by Amazon global vice president Paul E Misener with his meeting with Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma here.
"We talked about it," Misener said when asked whether he has sought policy relaxation in e-commerce from Sharma.
"We talked to the government officials on all kinds of issues... (we are) trying to find a better way to serve our Indian customers, both sellers and buyers," he told reporters here after the meeting.
He said Amazon has employed about 9,000 people in India. "We have nearly 9,000 employees here in the country and we are looking ways to better serve our customers," he added.
