In fact, a user on Weibo, China's biggest microblogging website, has published photos of this upcoming smartphone has leaked a photo of the upcoming smartphone.
The leaked image of the handset, currently being called Moto DVX, shows that it follows the same design as its older sibling. It is said to come in several colours, just like the current Moto X, and have a 4.5-inch display. According to tech grapevine, the upcoming phone will have a removable back cover and dual-sim functionality.
Speculation is also rife that it will have the same X8 chipset that the current model has, but will not offer as many customization options. In a recent interview with CNET, Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside too hinted at this cheaper version of the Moto X. Woodside told CNET, "Moto X is the brand that we are most focused on." He added, "And there is more to come. You will see additional products within months."
Woodside has previously said that it is working on a cheaper version of Moto X that will be aimed at developing markets as well as the prepaid market of the US. Motorola has also said that Moto X is the first model in a series of smartphones. The company is rumoured to be working on a Moto X tablet as well.
