Facebook suffers global outage

NEW DELHI: Social networking giant Facebook has suffered a global outage, leaving its 1.2 billion users without the option of updating their statuses, posting comments and liking posts as well as pages.

Users are able to log into their accounts and move between the pages they manage, but get an error message when they post statuses or comments or like the same. The service disruption affected not just the website but also its mobile app.

DownRightNow, a website monitoring service, currently shows that Facebook is facing a "Likely Service Disruption."

Facebook is yet to comment on the issue.

Facebook users unhappy with the outage took to microblogging website Twitter to express their anguish. Following are some of the tweets on the service disruption:

@1Obefiend: Facebook is broken? Somebody typed Facebook into the search collum thus breaking the server. #ITCrowd

@OhNoSheTwitnt: With Facebook down how will I know how friends I haven't seen since high school feel about today being Monday?

@EmilyDreyfuss: And that was the day Facebook users decided to give this thing called Twitter a chance. Their breakfast status had to be shared.

@stillgray: Facebook is down. Looks like some of you are going to have to do some actual work this Monday.

@FadynichPhotos: BREAKING NEWS: Facebook outage forces entire nation's descent into state of mass productivity

@inthefade: Facebook is down because you didn't make "post this pink ribbon" your status.

@winemedineme: News tomorrow: "American productivity up 45% after Facebook outage."
