Match-making site Tinder to launch 'Verified Accounts' for celebrities

WASHINGTON: After finding out that people were rejecting real celebrities, presuming them to be fake, match-making app Tinder has reportedly decided to roll out 'Verified Accounts' to help people better identify 'real' famous people.

The service has a number of high-profile users including Ashton Kutcher, Lindsay Lohan and Josh Groban.

However, Tinder CEO Sean Rad pointed that these famous people weren't necessarily fielding an endless stream of matches, Tech Crunch reports.

This is because when users come across any celebrity's profile, they tend to believe it as not a legit profile and swipe left, rejecting the person.

Although, Tinder does require Facebook account authorization to verify identity already, but a lot of celebs use fake names on the social network, or avoid it altogether, and Tinder felt the need to use alternate verification method for their growing pool of celebrities.

The report said that 'Verified Accounts' have been featured already on sites like Twitter and Facebook where celebrity profiles are marked with checkmark icons.
