Samsung Galaxy S5 priced at Rs 54,300 in India

NEW DELHI: Though Samsung is yet to officially announce the price of Galaxy S5, the company's flagship Android phone, retailers are jumping the gun ahead of April 11, the day when the device will go on sale. Manish Khatri, a retailer in Mumbai, on Monday revealed that Galaxy S5 carries a price tag of Rs 54,300.

However, the MOP (market operating price) of the device is Rs 51,500. But as it usually happens with Galaxy phones, Galaxy S5 will sell for a few thousands rupees less than its price. Khatri tweeted that he will sell the device for Rs 49,990.

In India, Galaxy S5 will be available in retail stores from April 11. Samsung is selling the eight-core Exynos processor version of device here.

Galaxy S5 is a high-end phone and as such packs in the premium hardware. Its Exynos processor runs four high-performance cores at 1.9GHz while the low-power cores run at 1.3GHz. The device has 16/32GB internal storage, with support for up to 64GB microSD card. The phone has a 5.1-inch SuperAMOLED screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, 16MP primary camera, 2MP front camera and 2GB RAM. It is powered by Android 4.4.2, which is the latest version of the OS. The device has a 2,800mAh battery.

The three key features in Galaxy S5 are fingerprint scanner, heart-rate sensor and new shell that is water- and dust-proof.
